I used to make trail mix snack bags for Asher once a week. Now that I am a mom of 2 I am still getting down a routine. I have the basic day to day routine down, but now I need to add in more things I used to do.
Anyways, I had sometime over the weekend during naptime and made Asher a new snack mix with items I already had in the kitchen. Once Asher woke up these did not last long at all! Pretty sure he ate 2 bags a day! I love Annie's Brand! They have so many Organic items. Mac-N-Cheese, Fruit Snacks, Cheddar Bunnies & Graham Bunnies, just to name Asher's favorites! Ingredients:
Place them all together in a bowl & mix. Portion out into snack baggies!

So this week has been full of rain! A lot of on and off rain. Friday we managed to do an outside activity right before it down poured! I really didn't have anything planned for Friday, but I knew whatever we did had to use items at home and I wanted it to be a learning experience. We went outside to watch the butterflies on our butterfly bush (as we call it) and Asher than wanted to get all of his toys out of the shed. I did not feel like getting everything and then having to clean it up. Plus I wanted to teach him something. So I headed to the garage to see what I could find. CHALK! There are so many things I could teach him with chalk.
I decided we would work on our shapes! I was pretty blown away though. As I started drawing the shapes Asher started calling them out! I was very impressed!
Here is an easy way to teach your kiddo's shapes. Also not alot of items needed! All you need is chalk and somewhere to use it! Thursday we had a long over due playdate! I swear playdates always tire Asher out the most!
These are 2 girls that I went to High School with. We were all pregnant at the same time with our first kids. We all had boys first! Then again we were all pregnant with our second. Two of us had girls and the other had a boy this time. So all of are kids are super close in age. We had a playdate once when the boys were really little. They weren't even crawling yet. Between all 3 of our schedules we haven't been able to find time. Finally we did on Thursday and it was awesome to catch up! We now are going to try and make play dates a thing and actually schedule them. Not only does Asher love playdates and it keeps him busy, but I myself LOVE playdates. I love talking to other adults. I feel like some weeks I am only around my kids and husband and thrive for other human interaction. I feel it is really important to have mom's friends! I could not be a full time stay at home mom. I would go stir crazy. I do love my current schedule. It's just enough time at work and just enough time with my kids. I work 3 long days a week, but have off 4 than with my kids. What else I love about playdates, being real with your mom friends. Let's face it we try to act like we have everything together, especially portraying it on facebook. Playdates are where I find out I'm not alone. My 2 year old is not the only 2 year old protesting naptime, refusing to eat lunch, and having tantrums. Don't get me wrong we have some really good days, but some days are not as smooth. Asher loves interacting with other kids. He is very sociable. It really helps him learn how to share and it's so cute watching him play with his little friends. It was wonderful to talk and see how these other 2 mom's are doing it with 2 kids. It's always great to know that you are not alone. We actually just scheduled our next play date and I am so excited for it. Having mom friend's is amazing and very valuable to me! Enjoy our photos! ( Of course there was no way of getting all of us in a photo . Maybe next playdate we will get one!) Aubriella & Ellie are 10 days apart!
Walker & Asher are 9 days apart!
Wednesday we stayed home and did an activity outside!I was a little upset with this activity just because our dog kept knocking the boats over. Axel is a 100lb Chocolate Lab that absolutely loves the water. Well he was outside with us and thought this activity was for him as well. Oh well, Asher still participated and learned some new numbers!
My best friend since middle school is a Pre-K teacher. We typically bounce ideas back and forth for activities. This one is all her. She sent me a photo the other day of these and told me how I had to try this with Asher. Asher can count 1-10 no problem! He even knows 20 and some of the numbers in between. So with my counting boats I focused on the numbers after 10. I did by 10's and 11-19. Yet again all these items were just laying around my house. Any activity lately has to be done with the supplies I have at home. Venturing with a 2 year old and a 2 1/2 month old is quite the task. Items Used:
I did test them in my sink first to make sure they would float! I actually didn't get any pictures of Asher in the pool with his counting boats =[. I'm sure we will do the activity again and I will update the pictures!
Continuing with my week off with the kids, Tuesday we went to the park! As i was explaining in my last post I have been off all week with my kids and planned something each day to keep us busy.
I do not venture far with both kids without my husband, my mom, or a friend. Asher is 2 years old and Aubriella is 2 1/2 months. I am slowly venturing out and seeing how it goes. So far we have mastered the post office, the store ( only got 3 items), a few Park's, and I am fine with going to other people's houses. Just public places make me nervous! But we are working on it and going to the Park was a big one for me! Tuesday we met our besties at our local park to let the kids burn off their energy. This whole week has been on and off raining! We were lucky enough to be able to enjoy a day at the park. We went to Long's park. I enjoy taking the kids to Long's Park for many reasons.
I try to make every activity not only fun, but a learning experience as well! I feel when you incorporate a small amount of learning into a fun activity, your toddler has no idea and is just enjoying the "fun" part.
I am off all this week with the kids. So I had to plan activities to keep my 2 year old entertained all week. The weather is on and off with rain this week which does not help! Not only does he go crazy being kept inside, but Momma does as well! With newly having 2 children I do NOT venture out a lot by myself with both kids. So I knew whatever activities I wanted to plan had to use items that are around the house. And that is how Cardboard painting was formed. This is a super simple activity, but a very messy one! What you need:
On the cardboard I used the painters tape to spell out my son's name. Then on paper plates I poured out different colored paint. I sat Asher outside and gave him the paint brushes to go to town!
He started off doing really well only painting on the cardboard. At first he did not want to get messy. But that eventually changed and he wanted to paint himself. Reason for washable paint!
Asher played outside painting for 45 minutes. Afterwards I carried him to the bath tub for clean up. I couldn't believe how easy the paint washed off. I thought for sure he was going to have blue hair. NOPE!
How did I make this a learning experience? When Asher went to use the colors I made him tell me what color each was as he was using it. Asher is really good with his colors!
