I love making what I call "Toddler Trail Mix". You really can use any of your child's favorite snack. I love to meal prep, freeze, and prepare food ahead of time. It makes it super convenient for when the time comes that you need something. I made these trail mix's and place them in snack baggies. I store them in Asher's cabinet that we have at the house and use them as needed. These are great when on the go! Instead of bring 3 different snacks, (because you never know what your child will want), just throw these in the dipar bag and out the door you go! Also great for when Dad is on duty. Dad likes to feed Asher a lot of snacks. With these being in snack baggies I can portion Adam to only let Asher have 1 snack baggie. Instead of Adam letting Asher eat an entire container of puffs. Which has happened before!
Ingredients: 1 cup M&M's 1 cup Mini Marshmellows 1 cup Golden Grahams 1 cup Pretzel sticks 1 cup Cheerios 1 box Raisins Directions: Combine all and place in snack baggies Ingredients: 1 cup Craisins ( sometimes I substitue with Teensy Fruits bites) 1 cup Fruity Cheerios 1 cup Creamies Directions: Combine all and place in snack baggie

On one of our trips to the beach house we brought down a bunch of toys that Asher either has duplicates of, or just does not play with as much. It's so nice being able to bring toys there and leave them there. Not having to pack up the whole house everytime is wonderful! Anyway, we brought a lot of his cars down. He seemed to be getting "bored". At home he has different tracks for his cars.
Here's a simple "race track" for cars when you are unable to bring the whole house! We found some painter's tape in the garage and went to town building Asher a track to run his cars on. He loved it! It kept him occupied for awhile. Also what is great about painter's tape is that it comes up easily off the floor. It did not ruin the floors! I had wanted to stockpile diapers when I was pregnant with Asher. I did not because everyone was telling me not to, that they grow out of diapers so fast, and that it is a waste of money. Well from experience, having to send your husband to the store at 11pm because you are out of diapers is not ideal when your exhausted. Each child is different and grows at a different rate. I don't plan to over do it with the stockpile, but I want a good cushion. I don't want to be running all the time for diapers! What I am doing right now is when I need diapers for Asher, I pick up a bag for the baby as well. A great tip my bestie just told me last is that Wal-Mart accepts name brand diapers for returns, even if the diapers are not bought there. Well how great is that! She got a lot of diapers at her baby shower and had an over abundance of size 1 diapers. Once her little one was in size 2, she took any unopened boxes/ bags of size 1 diapers to Wal-Mart and exchanged them for size 2. Great tip to know! Asher did not last long in size 2 or size 4. I based my list off my experience with Asher. Like I said it is not a huge stockpile but I know it will help! A diaper raffle is great for baby showers! Diaper Stockpile List: Newborn: 1 box (Asher was out of these quickly!) Size 1: 3 Boxes (Asher was in 1's for awhile!) Size 2: 3 Boxes Size 3: 4 Boxes Size 4: 1 Box
Asher loves bath time! I made him some finger paint that he could play with in the tub. We have a very old porcelain tub. I swear it is original from our house being built in 1962! Anyways, I get really concerned with things they have out now a days for "coloring" in the tub. Our tub takes a lot of time to clean and I have to use a pumus stone on tough stains. I figured if I could make it myself I would feel better knowing what was actually in it.
Well this did NOT leave any stains! I was so happy! Asher's fingers were NOT stained either. This is very simple to make. I also was teaching Asher colors with the different colors he was painting with. Ingredients: Barbasol white saving cream Food coloring Directions: Mix both together!
I have big plans for 2018. I have alot of goals I would like to meet and I feel I have picked realistic goals! I literally have a list for everything! Lists are really helping me keep focused and help me remember what to do. Alot of these goals I plan to have met by April at the latest. I plan to meet these goals before baby A #2 arrives! If you are planning to become pregnant or are currently pregnant, you are going to want to follow these next posts over the next few months!
So stay tuned! I plan to post all my lists and my recipes! I hope this can help others that are expecting! I know it seems like alot, but hey once you start nesting, that would be a great time to knock these out! I have wonderful friends that want to be involved and my mom plans to help me get all of these goals accomplished before the baby is here! I plan on doing these things end of Feburary/ March. I am due in May but you never know! Asher was 4 weeks early! Other things I will be doing that I probably wont blog about are my baby registry and maternity pictures! I have a very busy next few months, but am super excited! I want everything to be finished so I can just enjoy both my babies!! Trying to reduce stress!
These have been a hit lately with Asher. He is still very picky, but slowly adding more to his diet! What I love most about this recipe is how easy it is to make! Hope your little ones enjoy these!
P.S. Adults love them too!! Ingredients: 1 box Mac N Cheese (I use Annies Brand, it's organic & they have diffrent cheese flavors) 1/2 Cup Sourcream 1 Egg 1 1/2 Cup Shredded Cheddar 1/4 Cup Cracker Crumbs ( I used Ritz) Directions:
Since it is so cold out, I thought this was a good activity to finally post! If it's going to be this cold there needs to aleast be snow!
I made something similair to this before. It was the Gingerbread moon sand. Honestly, this made a mess as well. There I am again looking at pictures of toddlers playing nicley with their snow in a container. Reality is my child other there throwing the snow across the kitchen! He had a blast and that's all I care about. Messes can always be cleaned up! Enjoy! Ingredients: 3 Cups Baking Soda 1/2 Cup Conditioner ( I used Suave, coconut scent. I reccommend using a conditioner that is white in color) Directions: Mix both together and you have snow =]

After Asher losing 85% of his toys, not only did he lose the toys but he has a very limited area for playing now. Things that we were able to save have to be stored in the garage because they will take up our whole bedroom! Not only did I feel Asher needed new toys but I created some structure to his play. I love this busy bin idea! Not only can it be for toddlers but how about those long car rides? When your children keep asking "Are we there yet, I'm bored"? Why not even create a bin just for long car rides. Maybe your a stay at home mom and feel like you are running out of ideas and are tired of playing cars or baby dolls. Why not add some structure and help your child learn without them even thinking it's "school work". Having a Baby? These are great toddler distractors for those situations when you have to care for the baby and your toddler needs something to do. The bins I created are geared towards a 19 month old. Asher is very advanced and loves to do crafts. You can gear these bins towards any age group and incorporate their favorite things! I love the Melissa & Doug products. I feel they help teach kids very important skills in life. For example the Latch Puzzle. Before I get started with showing you everything I added to my bins here are some awesome Target Tips that I used to make this whole process so much easier on myself! First I wrote down some general ideas as to what I wanted to put in each bin. I knew I was going to have to bring Asher with and the last thing I wanted to be doing is wondering around aimlessly at Target while my child is having a meltdown. I wanted to get in and get out fast! I used the Target app I have on my phone for these next few tips. Once I had my list of items I went on my Target app and typed in, for example, Melissa and Doug toys. About 800 or so items popped up on the screen. Um wow, that will take forever to go through. I clicked on the filter button at the top of the screen and filter to only show items that are in stores. I then selected my store. Wonderful! My results were now only 56. So much more manageable. So as I was going through the results list and jotting down on my list what I wanted, I noticed that Target even gives you the aisle number as to where that item is located! How amazing! I wrote down the aisle number and shopping today at Target could not have gone any smoother! I knew exactly what I wanted and exactly where to find it! Thank you Target for making mom's with toddlers lives a little less chaotic. Here we are. Day 4! After voicing my concerns, the ServPro men fixed them. We did not have to keep flipping the breaker last night, which was a huge plus! They have extensions cords now running into our kitchen to help with electric issue.
I woke up this morning and figured I was really losing it. The dryers/blowers were not bothering me. I must be getting used to them. I asked my husband to make sure they were all plugged in and that the power was still on. Everything was fine. I'm either used to them or just good a tuning them out now. I greeted the men at the door as I do in the mornings. This morning I'm sure the guy was glad to only hear me say "Good Morning" and proceed up the stairs to finish getting ready. I had no complaints. Before I left the guys went over the progress with me. Right now all over the dryers/ blowers are gone from the entire basement. There are 2 dryers still in the living room at the closet where the pipe had burst. He said their meter was still reading that there was moisture. They will be back in the morning to hopefully take those 2 as well! Hoping we can get renovations scheduled and started quickly! I am going to try and post a new recipe or something non house related over the weekend! Everyone stay warm and have a great weekend! Thanks again to our friends and family that continue to support us and continue to check in on us! We really appreciate it and it is what keeps us going right now! Today is day 3. Day 3 is not starting off well at all! The dryers/fans/ whatever those loud machines are keep flipping our breakers and we lose power. My husband has been dealing with that for the past 2 days. Finally at 5am he had enough. We had to unplug the dryers. I then was able to plug about half back in without them tripping the breaker. Half is better than non at all!
Also at 5am Asher woke up vomiting. Poor guy. I had him at the pediatrician on Tuesday. He does not have an ear infection. The doctor thinks he just had a 24 hour bug. While I was running up and down the stairs throwing his sheets in the washer, I noticed their dehumidifier leaked water all over the living room. GREAT! We already had a water issue. I could not wait for the guys to come back today so I could rattle off all my concerns. The poor guy literally opened my door and my response was "Good morning, I don't mean to bombard you but I need to leave and we are having problems." As soon as I told the guy about the dehumidifier his jaw dropped and he ran downstairs while I was in mid sentence. I am thankful he listened to my concerns and fixed them. My garage is full of all of Asher's playroom belongings and our entire living room. Therefore I have to park in the driveway. Last night it snowed. So while carrying Asher to the car of course I had to take a nasty fall. It really was like slow motion. I thought "what do I do with Asher, Do I quickly throw him and hope he lands in the snow?, NO! NO! that's an awful idea, momma bear hug him"! So that is what I did. I hugged Asher into my chest & belly and went down on my knees. Asher landed on his bottom and looked at me like "what just happened mom." I brushed us off and we had to go! I had a baby appointment this morning. Luckily Asher only vomited once this morning and my sitter is AMAZING and offered to still take him for me! Unfortunately they could not get me in for an ultra sound today. I am scheduled for next week. I did get to hear baby's heart beat and know what to watch for. So everything should be okay! There are all these things going on that I cannot control. I need to control the situation. I like to have a plan and I like to be organized. A dear friend of mine gave me 2 great pieces of advice yesterday. I am very grateful for her. She has been on everyday with me checking in and trying to keep me sane! The first thing is, "We make plans, God laughs." How true is that? I always plan everything! And usually it does not go as planned. Second wonderful piece of advice is "Control what you can control." There is a lot that I can not control and wont be able to control through this process. I can't control that those men wont put plastic down on my floors. What I can control is that I can use my awesome Bissell Crosswave every day over that area. I can not control that my furniture is not in it's proper place. What I can control is moving it to my parents shed which will allow me to park in the garage and hopefully not fall. Once I finally pulled my head out of my butt yesterday I got everything accomplished on my list of things to do. It felt great and I kept telling myself to take control of things I can control. That will be my motto through this whole process! |
