I love Muddy Buddies! They are a delicious treat! I also love how you can dress them up for every holiday! I made a Halloween Muddy Buddies, so I had to do a Christmas themed one as well! This time Asher's favorite part is the M&M's.
6 Cups Chex Cereal
1 Cup Chocolate Chips
1/2 Cup Peanut Butter
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 Cup Mini Marshmallows
1 Cup Whoopers
1 Cup Mini Pretzels
1 Bag of Red & Green M&Ms
1. Melt chocolate chips & peanut butter in microwave for about 45 seconds. Stir and heat more if everything is not melted.
2. Add vanilla to chocolate/ peanut butter mixture
3. Pour over chex cereal
4. Stir until well combine
5. Place mixture in a gallon baggy and add about 2 cups of powdered sugar. Shake until well combined. Add more powdered sugar if necessary
6. Place in a container and add all of your other ingredients.
7. Give the container a good shake to combine everything!
I'm sure most of you have seen these all over facebook and pinterest. That is where I got the idea. I love doing seasonal/ holiday activites with Asher. This one was great because it was not messy and its a nice quiet activity.
I never realized how creative I actually can be. Being Asher's mom has brought out a very different side of me. I guess it's the "mom" coming out lol! In school I hated doing projects. I was never creatve and really didn't care to be. Now with Asher that all I want to do!
One trip to A.C. Moore and I had all my supplies
Hot glue gun
Different colored felt
At least 1 yard of green felt
1.To start I made ornaments. I used a cup and traced circles on different colors of felt. I also made presents.
2.I then made "lights". I drew the lights on a colored piece of felt. I then glued them to a white piece of felt and then cut out the light.
3.I decorated my ornaments and presents with felt and stickers.
4.I laid out my green felt and folded it in half. I then free hand drew my tree and cut it out.
5. I taped my tree to the playroom wall. Felt sticks to felt so nothing needed to attach the ornaments.
My Bestie & I plan to do these for every holiday. They are fun and a great keepsake. Asher's hands and feet only stay tiny for so long! I think the kiddos are getting used to these. At first they try to run, but they do give in and cooperate more! I'm sure once Asher understands he will not want any part of it. So might as well do as much as I can to keep him little! Here's our Christmas activity!
Things you will need:
For the one canvas we first painted the backround and let it dry.
We stuck the kiddos hands/ feet in the paint and pressed them onto the canvas.
Let everything dry.
Add finishing details with puffy paint!
I was running out of things to keep Asher occupied. I thought, why not try a seasonal activity! I jumped on pinterest and immediately at the top of my home screen was Gingerbread Moon Sand. So I clicked on the picture so I could see what ingredients we would need. Perfect! I have everything on hand.
On the pinterest post it showed a little girl playing so nicely with this box full of moon sand. I know Asher loves sand, so this will be great! I made the moon sand in a big container for him. I was so excited as I added some cookie cutters, shatter proof ornaments, and a shovel.
Asher immediately took to the moon sand. He ran over to the box and did not waste any time. Within 3 seconds my kitchen was covered in moon sand. EPIC FAIL! I should know better that my child would not be like the child in the pinterest post. I should have known he would not keep the sand in the box. I immediately started to panic as I sat and watched more and more of the sand ending up on the floor. I took a minute to watch my son shoveling this sand on himself and saw how happy he was. He was having a great time! He did not care the sand was not in the box.
Asher then handed me a shovel and wanted mommy to play too. The sand was literally everywhere until we were done playing. And you know what, it was okay. Asher had a great time and that is all that mattered! I did have to take Asher up for a bath afterwards.
Clean up of the kitchen was not as bad as I thought. I took a dust pan and broom to sweep up most of it. The vaccum then got the rest. Be prepared for a mess!
8 cups flour
1/2 cup cinnamon
1 TBSP nutmeg
2 TBSP ginger
2 cups oil
Put flour and spices in a container. Then add oil. Stir until sand constiancty.
I'm realizing in my 18 months of experience as a parent that I am doing a few things that I said I would never do. Example: My child will sit nicely at restaurants and eat his food without a smart phone or tablet. HAHAHA, please laugh out loud with me at this statement! Guess how we get to go out to eat. Asher sits in a high chair with the portal DVD player (on mute) watching paw patrol. But he does eat and he isn't screaming that he wants to get down. It's not ideal but at least you don't have to hear my child having a meltdown. Another one that I see on facebook alot is parents giving their children Christmas presents early. I never understood until today.
After 2 straight days of a pounding migraine and vomitting every 2 hours, I am finally feeling better and am able to actually function like a person. This morning when I woke up and felt better I was so joyed! So joyed that I completley over did it. I ran around the house this morning trying to get everything accomplished that I could not get done for the past 2 days. I then felt awful! I felt like I got hit my a truck and new I was going to crash. Well there is no crashing today when it's just you and little man. My husband is at work, so I have no other option but to function.
We have been cleaning out Asher's playroom for the past month. Gathering his smaller baby toys and putting them away for when the baby comes, boxing up items to take down to the beach house, and trying to make room for when Christmas explodes down there. I noticed Asher is becoming "bored" with his toys. Usually on my days off I try to do an activity or take Asher on an adventure. Well neither of those were getting accomplished today.
I went to my last resort. I needed a new toy that would entertain Asher and I could still be involved, while I wasn't feeling the best. Asher really does not understand Santa yet. Which worked wonderfully in my favor! Santa brough Asher the Paw Patroller & all the pups with their vehicles this morning! A new toy to keep him occupied and I could still be involved playing with the pup figurines on the floor with him!
Before kids I didn't understand at all! Now that I have a child of my own and am pregnant and extremely ill with this pregnancy, I totally get it! I rather give him a new toy then stick him in front of the TV yet again.
I was able to do a few fun seasonal activites with Asher recently that I would love to share! Hoping I feel well enough to get these activites posted before the Holiday is over!
It really is December and we took the kiddos to the Zoo! What a fantastic time! My bestie and I do a lot of our trips on Tuesdays during the day. What is great about day trips and during the week trips is that it is never crowded! Which is awesome when you have impatient little ones. We usually just get to do whatever we want and no lines. We always pack lunches to save money.
Our most recent trip was to the Baltimore Zoo. Since is it December not all of the animals were out for you to visit with. The price was only $10 because everything is not up and functioning. Kiddos were free! There still were a lot of animals to see and the kids enjoyed being able to just run around in the vacant zoo.
If you pay close attention to the photos and know me well, you can guess what baby #2 will be! Remember they cannot confirm until Jan 9th!!!
Little Asher is getting in his molars currently. He is a picky eater to begin with and when he is teething he goes on strike from eating. I knew I needed to get something in this child. This time he isn't even interested in the baked oatmeal bites. I was lucky and last night he would at least eat these. So here is how I came up with peanut butter cheerio bites.
5 cups of multigrain cheerios
1 cup of peanut butter
1/2 cup of honey
1 tsp of vanilla extract
1. Put the cheerios in a bowl and set aside.
2. Put the peanut butter in the microwave for 40 seconds.
3. Stir peanut butter and add honey. Microwave for 30 seconds
4. Stir and add vanilla
5. Pour over cheerios
6. Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet and place spoonful's of the mixture on the cookie sheet.
7. Let sit on the cookie sheet for 3 hours to set up. Then you can place them in a container to store.
And just like that today I am 27 years old. Usually I don't care for birthdays. Who wants to get older? I mean after you turn 21 you just lose track of birthdays. 25 isn't bad because you usually get a break on car insurance! 27 I don't mind. I like the number 27. I'm at pretty good point in my life and there is nothing that I feel like I need to accomplish before 27.
I really have nothing to say about this birthday which is very odd for me. I usually am negative or have some big speech about my birthday. Not this year. Just going with the flow.
To follow up this very boring post I will post some toddler meals or activities! lol
