Shadow Boxes

These turned out way better than I expected. I never understood the purpose of a shadow box. I always questioned "what do I put in there". Well I can't even take full credit for this. My best friend sent me a snapchat of the shadow boxes she made for her daughter and I loved them! So we got together and she let me see the items she enclosed and told me what boxes to buy and where. So this is my take on the shadow box! Hopefully this gives you ideas if this is something your looking to do.

A trip to Michael's and I found all the supplies I needed.
  • Shadow boxes x2
  • Colored paper
  • Wooden 1
  • Wooden Anchor
  • Stickers
Newborn box:
After we brought Asher home I started a file in the filing cabinet with his name on it. I had so many papers from the hospital, along with our bracelets. I pulled this file out and instantly found items I wanted to use! I knew I wanted to save our hospital bracelets but had no idea what to do with them! I also saved the card that stayed in Asher's bassinet at the hospital, but yet again no idea what to do with these things.
Items in Box:
  • Hat from hospital
  • Outfit brought home in & newborn pictures
  • Newborn photo
  • Hospital Bracelets
  • Footprints card
  • Card from bassinet that was filled out with all his birth information

One Box:
I already had a game plan for this box. I knew I could place both his outfits from his first birthday! My best friend told me to add the invitation and I copied her with the wooden 1.
Items in box:
  • 2 outfits from his 1st birthday
  • Cake smash photo
  • Invitation
  • Wooden One
  • Wooden Anchor

I plan to make these for our little girl as well! These are a great way to store the items you want to keep but have no idea where to put them so they wont get lost. This is also a great keepsake for the kids once they are grown!

Now that Miss Aubriella is here I finally got around to making her Newborn shadow box!

Newborn Box:

I did the same thing with Aubriella; started a file in the filing cabinet with everything that I brought home from the hospital.
Items in Box:
  • Hat from hospital
  • Outfit brought home in & newborn pictures
  • Newborn photo
  • Hospital Bracelets
  • Footprints card
  • Card from bassinet that was filled out with all her birth information

I had never thought of creating a shadow box, but like you, I have all this little tidbits from when they were babies that I don't really know what to do with. I'm trying to downsize everything, so maybe a shadowbox is the perfect solution.

I love shadow boxes, they are such a great idea at capturing the moments and memories. They can display small to large objects that you can't put in regular frames, and they are great gifts too.

This is so sweet! My husband and I are a couple of hoarders when it comes to our kids. We love to keep their littlest clothes and things from when they were brand new! We need to put it to use! I gotta show him this he would love it! Pinning for later :)
