As I laid in bed this morning waiting for my toddler to wake up I was brainstorming what to do today. The weather was not the best this morning so I knew it would have to be an indoor activity.
I was striking out. Maybe it was too early to be creative. Maybe it was because I didn't finish drinking my first cup of coffee. I heard his door open and his little foot steps come running across the hall into our bedroom. Asher was up! He now was standing at the side of the bed waiting for me to lift him on the bed. I noticed he had brought his book over with him. "Boom Boom" Asher says. So we sat in the bed and I read him Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. When we get to the very end and all the letters are on the page I sing ABC to him and point at each letter. Asher has taken great interest into learning his letters lately. He has A B C down. And the light bulb went off! I had made Asher a felt Christmas tree last year and he put ornaments and presents on the tree. Lets make a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree and have Asher put the letters on as I read him the book! Down to the craft closet we went. I already had all the supplies just laying around. What you will need:
I hand drew everything. As you can see all the lines are not straight and my letters are different sizes. You can use a ruler if you want everything to line straight.
First I drew the trunk for the palm tree follwed by drawing the leaves. Cut everything out and start to assemble using your hot glue gun.
Next I hand drew all the letters of the alphabet on different colored felt and cut them out.
Now all that was left to do is to put in on the wall with tape and read to Asher!
It was a huge success! Asher had a blast. Such a fun way to learn the alphabet!
