Hey everyone! I decided to not post during the holidays and wait until the new year to share some activites. I know most children (my son included) recevied alot of toys for Christmas so us mom's got a little break and let the toys do the baby sitting!
This is going to be a long post. More of a venting post I guess. We are not starting off the new year as planned. I have to find an outlet because I am literally losing my mind!! Sometimes we just need a "good cry". I don't want to cry. I have tried but honestly I shed a few tears and surpress my feelings. Lets start from the begining! Over New Years weekend we had gone to my family's beach house in Delaware. It really was a great weekend! I ended up getting symptoms of a sinus infection but I was still in good spirits and was enjoying our mini vacation. I did not have any morning sickness or any sickness from this pregnancy at all while we were there! It was awesome!! New years Eve we played cards and had a bunch of food. Suddenly Asher started projectile vomitting all over the kitchen. Poor kiddo. He ended up being sick from 5pm til 9pm. I joined him and called it an early night as well. I know i'm lame! I'm pregnant and exhausted! Thankfully when we woke up the next day Asher was feeling alot better! We headed home and no sooner did we walk in the door, there goes this "pregnancy sickness" (thats what I like to call it). I was back to vomitting. Not fun at all! I had planned in the morning to call the pediatrician to get an appointment for Asher. Tuesday morning all hell broke loose! I went downstairs to the kitchen and got myself a muffin and my coffee. I felt awful as usual in the mornings. Adam was getting ready to leave for work and started following me down to the living room where I was going to have my breakfast. I stopped on the stairs and said "what is that noise". Adam and I were so dumb founded as to what this hissing noise is coming from our living room closet door. Adam very slowly opened the door to find a pipe had burst and was squirting water everywhere! I franticly was yelling "shut it off shut it off". Adam quickly opened the door to our basement (which is where Asher's play room is) ran down the stairs only to realize he was runing through 7 inches of water. He got the water shut off and the spraying stopped. WTF just happened is all I can remember thinking. So here a pipe in our living room burst ( I would assume from the cold) and water poured into our living room and down the wall, which filled Asher's playroom and the other basement side. As we are standing there dumb founded yet again we realized our living room sub floor is now started to bow. Adam called our home owners insurance. I have to share this conversation because this is literally our life. Nationwide rep: Hello blah blah blah how may I help you? Adam: I need to make a claim on my home owners insurance are you the correct person that can help me, if not tranfer me right away!. Nationwide rep: Oh I can help you sir what is the problem? Adam: A pipe burst and the lower half of my house is filling with water, what do I need to do? Nationwide rep: Oh i'm sorry sir that is not my department, let me tranfer you. REALLY LADY!!!! Next rep: Hello blah blah blah blah how can I help you? Adam: repeating his first message even angrier now . Nationwide rep: I can help you ( and continues to rattle off a bunch of stuff) the rep then procedes to say "so would you like to start a claim"? Adam: (trying not to lose his cool) YES I want to start a claim, my house is full of water, isn't that what i'm suppose to do?!? Nationwide rep: I would love to help you get started. (and rattles off a bunch of stuff) at the end the rep says, "so should I get ServPro on their way." Adam( really trying not to start swearing at this man) : Yes I want ServPro on the way! Why haven't you called them yet! So i'm not sure if any of you have had this happen before, or even have needed to use your home owners insurance but heres how ours work. For 1 they DO NOT cover a plumber. Really? Our issue is because of a pipe. We were instructed to get a plumber in. Well thank you to my wonderful father who is a jack of all trades, pipe fixed and running water within an hour. Problem 1 solved. Back to my insurance. If we choose to have ServPro from start to begining our insurance will cover the costs, after our $1,000 deductible. Well thats not awful. Before the arriving of ServPro we were instructed to start clearing out the area as best that we could. We had to move the living room to the dining room and had to start throwing out Asher's brand new toys. I am thankful he is only 18 months and probably does not remember everything he has because electronics were ruined. ServPro was here all day Tuesday. In the living room they ripped out al the carpet and the sub floor. Luckily the walls and trim work did not get wet, but the closet will need fuly gutted. As far as down stairs, the carpet, the dry wall, and the insulation has to go. Asher's playroom got it the worst. There is another room next to his playroom but it was not fully finished yet. The dry wall that was hung on that side also has to be ripped down. It could have been alot worse and I know that. Being pregnant does not help my emtions. Adam and I made Asher's playroom. We framed the room out, hung the dry wall, painted, and got carpet installed. I couldn't help but shed a tear as they carried out the carpet and dry wall. We spent sleepless nights down there so excited to give our son his our playroom and now it's all destroyed. Step 1 is the dry out phase. They have literally 15 huge blower/ dryers ( i have no idea what they are) in the living room and down stairs. It is so noisey in our house you honestly can't hold a conversation unless your up in the bedroom and shut the door. We could stay at my parents but until we packed up and I have to be here every morning to leave them in and Asher's sitter right now is 5 mins from our house. That is why we choose to stay. Today is Wednesday. Day 2. So last night these dryers are so powerful they keep tripping the electrical box and shutting off because we lose power. AWESOME! Not only is it noisey in here but you have to keep flipping the breaker box. ServPro came back to start taking out more dry wall. We will be in this wind tunnel for about 5 days of the drying out process. I wish people cared about their jobs and their quality of work. The guys are suppose to put plastic down so they don't ruin our hardwood upstairs in the dining room, well I popped in and of course there was nothing covering my floor. Then I went into my office to find they are using the outlet to charge their Ipad. My office has personal documents and bills and there is no need for them to be in there. Charge your belongings in the dining room. (Yes we notified their boss). I don't mean to be like this but lets face it , 1 I am pregnant and 2 just no! I'm losing my mind and not handling it well. I want to say a HUGE thank you to all of our friends and family members that have reached out to us or were here helping us! Seriously you guys are the best! I have some amazing friends, I really do! My 3 best friends called me immediatley yesterday and were ready to do whatever needed to be done. It's so nice to have you ladies and your what is getting me through this mess right now. They even checked in on me later to see how I was handling it. My poor mom probably cringes everytime her phone rings. I think I call her every hour because i'm going crazy and tell her how awful this situtation is. I do have to add. I try to be an open minded person. And as I said this could be worst! But please, everyone handles situations differently and one inccident may not see as extreme to someone as it is to another person. Please try to be consideration and realize this does effect me greatly and my family. I don't take this situation light and we are hurting. Also I am pregnant. Also you do not know everything about home owners insurance. It is not oh throw it out, insurance will pay and get new. WRONG! You have to write a list and take pictures and figure out prices. Then depending how old the item was and the price, the insurance gives you what they want. It's not just hey these shoes were $100 and the insurance gives you $100. Adam and I faced a huge tragedy when I was pregnant with Asher. I ended up losing all my amniotic fluid and was presented with either being induced or chancing Asher to be a stillborn. I did not want to chance that and was incuded 4 weeks early. We were really thankfully that Asher was a healthy baby and did not have to go to NICU. The doctors are unsure if that tragedy caused the lose of amniotic fluid but it is a good chance it did with all of the stress and termoial I was under. I pray that God keeps this little one safe. I am very scared of it happening again, but this time I am only 20 weeks, and that is way to early to have a baby. I will blog updates on our house and family. I am hoping this will help me leave out my emotions instead of supressing them. To our Family and Friends that have reached out to us we appreciate you guys so much! We are so thankful to have the support system that we do!
